Abstract

This study aims to improve student learning outcomes in the Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) subject, particularly in the topic Daerahku dan Kekayaan Alamnya, through the application of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model. This research employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) conducted in three cycles, with each cycle consisting of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The research subjects were 26 fourth-grade students at SDN Balimester 03 Petang. Data collection instruments included tests, observation sheets, and field notes. The results revealed that the PBL model significantly improved student learning outcomes. Mastery learning increased from 27% in the pre-cycle to 31% in cycle I, 54% in cycle II, and 81% in cycle III. Despite the overall improvement, five students consistently did not achieve mastery across all cycles, which was strongly related to their affective and psychomotor domains. Thus, the PBL model is effective in enhancing IPAS learning outcomes in fourth-grade elementary school students.
