Gross Motor Skills Improvement through Modern Dance

The purpose of this study was to improve children’s gross motor skills through modern dance. This research method is classroom action research that follows the model of Kemmis and Taggart. This research includes 2 cycles where each cycle includes 4 stages, namely planning, action, observation and reflection. Data is collected through observation, interviews and documentation. Data processing techniques use rubric success criteria with the highest score 4= children independently do it, 3= children are sometimes assisted by teachers, 2= children are often assisted by teachers, 1= children are assisted by teachers. The results showed that there was a significant increase in children’s gross motor skills. This is evidenced by the average results of creative thinking skills in each cycle increased, namely in Cycle I=29%; Cycle 2=39%; and Cycle 3=87% and from the results of observations made concluded that children's gross motor skills through modern dance is a fun simulation method for learners. This study concluded that through modern dance can improve children's gross motor skills.
